Finding God in the Mess Day 1

Devotional

We often feel we need to clean up our act before approaching God. Like Jacob, we might have made mistakes, hurt people, or created chaos in our lives. We may think we're too broken or messy for God to want anything to do with us. But God's approach is radically different from what we might expect. He doesn't wait for us to get everything together. Instead, He meets us right where we are, in the middle of our mess.

Bible Verse

Then Jacob departed from Beersheba and went toward Haran. He came to a certain place and spent the night there, because the sun had set; and he took one of the stones of the place and put it under his head, and lay down in that place. - Genesis 28:10-11

Reflection Question

What areas of your life do you feel are too messy to bring before God? What's holding you back from letting Him meet you there?

Prayer

Lord, thank you that you're not afraid of my mess. Help me to trust that you want to meet me right where I am, without requiring me to clean everything up first. Give me the courage to come to you just as I am. Amen.
