Finding God in the Mess Day 2
Embracing Imperfection
Devotional
Many of us struggle with perfectionism in our spiritual journey. We believe we need to have everything figured out before we can truly walk with God. But Jacob's story reveals a different truth. Despite his flaws and failures, God chose him and worked through him. Our imperfections don't disqualify us from God's calling or His love. In fact, they often become the very places where God's grace shines brightest.
Bible Verse
But he said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.' Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me. - 2 Corinthians 12:9
Reflection Question
How has the pursuit of perfection hindered your relationship with God? What might change if you embraced your imperfections as opportunities for God's grace?
Quote
Jacob wasn't perfect, but Jacob was called. So many times when God calls us into relationship with him... we feel like there's a need for perfection. If I'm going to be in relationship with God, I have to have everything figured out.
Prayer
Father, help me release the burden of perfectionism. Thank you that your grace is sufficient for me, even in my weakness. Help me to rest in your love and acceptance today. Amen.
