Finding God in the Mess Day 4
The Real You
Devotional
It's tempting to present a polished version of ourselves to God and others. We might think that's what God wants - someone who has it all together. But Jacob's story teaches us that God wants authenticity more than perfection. It wasn't until Jacob stopped running and wrestling, acknowledging who he really was, that God could truly transform him. God wants to work with the real you, not a pretend version.
Bible Verse
And Jacob was left alone. And a man wrestled with him until the breaking of the day. - Genesis 32:24
Reflection Question
What masks do you wear in your relationship with God? What might it look like to be more authentic with Him?
Quote
God can't bless the pretend version of you. God can't bless the version of you that's pretending to be perfect or pretending to have it all figured out.
Prayer
Lord, help me to be real with You. I don't want to hide behind masks or pretend to be someone I'm not. Thank you for loving the authentic me. Amen.
