Finding God in the Mess Day 5

Devotional

God's transforming power is at the heart of Jacob's story. He went from being a deceiver to becoming Israel, a prince with God. This wasn't because Jacob finally got his act together - it was because he finally surrendered to God's transforming grace. The same is true for us. When we stop trying to fix ourselves and allow God to work in us, He begins a beautiful work of transformation.

Bible Verse

Then he said, 'Your name shall no longer be called Jacob, but Israel, for you have striven with God and with men, and have prevailed.' - Genesis 32:28

Reflection Question

What areas of your life are you trying to transform on your own? How might surrendering these areas to God's transforming grace change things?

You know what God will do? He will change you and make you something better and new, because that's what he did for Jacob.

Prayer

Father, I surrender to Your transforming work in my life. Thank you that You don't leave me as I am, but lovingly shape me into who You've created me to be. Continue Your work in me. Amen.
