Saved by Grace, Living by Faith: Day 2
The Perfect Sacrifice
Devotional
One of the most profound truths of Christianity is that Jesus lived a completely sinless life. In a world where everyone falls short, Jesus stands alone as the perfect one. He never had a selfish thought, never spoke an unkind word, never acted out of pride or fear. He was, in every way, what we were meant to be but fail to be. Why does this matter so much? Because only a perfect sacrifice could pay for our imperfection. If Jesus had sinned even once, He would have needed salvation Himself. Instead, He became our substitute—taking our sin upon Himself and giving us His righteousness in return. This exchange is at the heart of the gospel. We bring nothing to the table except our need. Jesus brings everything—His perfect life, His sacrificial death, His triumphant resurrection. When God looks at those who trust in Christ, He no longer sees our failures; He sees the perfection of His Son. Today, instead of focusing on your shortcomings or trying harder to be good enough, remember that Jesus was good enough for you. His perfection covers your imperfection. His righteousness becomes yours through faith.
Bible Verse
"God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God." - 2 Corinthians 5:21
Reflection Question
How does knowing that Jesus lived a perfect life on your behalf change how you view your own failures and struggles with sin?
Quote
"The Jesus that I serve loved me enough to go to the cross and lay down his life for me, pay the penalty for every one of my sins, and not mine alone, but for every sin that has ever been committed by anybody in this building."
Prayer
Lord Jesus, thank You for living the perfect life I could never live. Thank You for becoming my sin so that I could become Your righteousness. Help me to walk in the freedom of knowing that Your perfection, not my performance, is what makes me acceptable to God. Amen.
