Saved by Grace, Living by Faith: Day 3
Faith That Transforms
Devotional
Genuine faith is never static—it's always transformative. When we truly believe in Jesus, something profound happens within us. The Holy Spirit begins a renovation project in our hearts that inevitably affects our external lives. Our priorities shift. Our desires change. Our relationships are reshaped. This doesn't mean we become perfect overnight. Transformation is a process, often with steps forward and backward. But the direction of our lives changes. We begin to love what God loves and hate what God hates. We find ourselves wanting to serve others rather than just ourselves. James puts it bluntly: faith without works is dead. Not because works save us, but because genuine faith naturally produces good works. An apple tree doesn't strain to produce apples—it simply does what its nature dictates. Similarly, when we are made new in Christ, good works flow from our transformed nature. If you've been a Christian for some time but don't see evidence of change in your life, perhaps it's time to reexamine your faith. Not to earn God's favor, but to ensure you've truly understood and embraced the gospel. True faith in Jesus always leads to transformation.
Bible Verse
"In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead." - James 2:17
Reflection Question
What is one area of your life where you've seen God transform your attitudes or actions since coming to faith in Christ?
Quote
"When you have faith in Jesus, it's going to change who you are and it's going to change what you do. If you have not changed since you came to faith in Jesus, go back to Jesus, get reacquainted with him."
Prayer
Holy Spirit, continue Your transforming work in my life. Help me to cooperate with You as You make me more like Jesus. Where my faith has become stagnant, revive it. Where I've resisted change, soften my heart. Thank You for not leaving me as I was. Amen.
