Saved by Grace, Living by Faith: Day 4
Bearing Fruit for Others
Devotional
Have you ever noticed that fruit trees don't eat their own fruit? An apple tree produces apples for others to enjoy. It endures harsh winters, storms, and drought—not for its own benefit, but to provide nourishment for others. In the same way, the fruit of our faith isn't primarily for our own benefit. When God transforms us, He does so with a purpose beyond our personal growth. He wants our changed lives to nourish and bless those around us. This might look like sharing your testimony with someone who's struggling. It could mean using your resources to meet practical needs. Perhaps it involves offering forgiveness to someone who doesn't deserve it. Whatever form it takes, the fruit of genuine faith always extends beyond ourselves. Sometimes bearing fruit is difficult. We face criticism, resistance, or simple exhaustion. But just as a fruit tree persists through adverse conditions, we're called to remain faithful in producing fruit that benefits others. And remarkably, in the process of nourishing others, we find ourselves nourished as well. Today, ask God to show you how the fruit of your faith can bless someone else. Then follow through on what He reveals.
Bible Verse
"I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing." - John 15:5
Reflection Question
Who in your life might be nourished by the fruit of your faith this week, and what specific action could you take to bless them?
Quote
"The apple tree never picks an apple and eats it. The orange tree never slices an orange and eats it. Who is the fruit for? The fruit is for others. And that's the way the Lord works in our life."
Prayer
Lord, help me to bear fruit that nourishes others. Show me specific ways I can use what You've given me to bless those around me. When I face criticism or difficulty, give me the strength to persist. Thank You for the privilege of being a channel of Your goodness to others. Amen.
